Early years on the bike, a Fuji road bike converted to a fixed gear as my introduction to cycling as recreation. Wednesday night rides for California burritos, carne asada fries, pastrami sandwiches, or double doubles in the backdrop of southern Orange County. Empty streets and no brakes. Parking structure hangouts for trick practice. Sloppy bike polo games. Meetups at the flagpoles at the University of California, Irvine.
