2024 USA Ice Climbing Team Tryouts
Sept 21-22, 2024The USA Ice Climbing team tryouts, held for the second year at The Edge Halfmoon. Nearly 50 competitors traveled to this small town north of Albany to vie for a spot on the team, chasing after the potential to compete on the world stage.
Indoor drytooling is one of the most ridiculous sports to get into, before even considering the high barrier of access (cost, time, mentorship, training, etc). Every climber not based out of a city with a dedicated drytooling gym is a satellite, training on their homemade climbing wall or traveling long distances to obscure crags. It's a near impossible sport to get into without a dedicated gym to provide an immediately built in community..
..but I do love chasing impossible projects. NYC folks, I've found a space. Let's dive into the dark arts.
